I’ve had difficulty living within my means. Clothes shopping is my weakness. Any advice for me besides the obvious “stay out of the mall”?


The fact that you asked the question suggests that you know the answer already. That you then supplied an answer confirms it. If you’re spending too much on clothes or anything else that’s not necessary – once you have a few changes of clothing, each additional one is something you want, not something you need – then spend less. One way to do that is to spend smarter. Buy online, only buy during sales, go to thrift shops if your tastes will allow it. If you don’t feel as though you have the discipline to change your shopping habits voluntarily, then force yourself into it by ripping up a credit card or two.
